Early lead gives The Cogs/Miller Financial easy victory over Fox, 11-5
The Cogs jumped out to an early lead on Fox and captured an 11-5 victory on Thursday at three.
With nine runs in the first three innings, The Cogs left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
A sacrifice fly by Mike Webster, a two-run home run by James Moretti, and a two-run home run by Nate Miller during the first inning and an RBI double by Webster in the second inning helped The Cogsput some runs on the board early.
Moretti racked up two RBIs on two hits for The Cogs.
Webster recorded the win for The Cogs even though he allowed five runs over seven innings. Webster struck out four, walked three and gave up seven hits.
The Cogs pounded Fox pitching, as six hitters combined for 13 hits, nine RBIs and nine runs scored.
After pushing across one run in the top of the second, Fox faced just a 5-2 deficit. A solo home run by PlayerF sparked Fox’s rally. Finally, Webster induced an inning-ending strike out from PlayerC.
The Cogs scored one run of its own in the second.
After pushing across one run in the top of the third, Fox faced just a 6-3 deficit. A bases loaded walk by Webster set off a Fox rally. Finally, Webster got PlayerD to fly out to end the threat.
The Cogs answered Fox’s top inning with three runs of its own in the third. The Cogs scored on an RBI single by Rich Weiss, an RBI double by Tom Davis, and an RBI double by Devon Pruitt.
